Vol. 57: Forty Years of the Llanberis Lake Railway and The last years at the Dinorwic Quarry

Ref: JM1057D

Price:£15.95

Quantity:

The first trains ran on this railway in July 1971, but this was not the beginning of a railway here. The current trains run on the track-bed of the Padarn Railway, built in 1843, which carried slate from the Dinorwic Quarries to Port Dinorwic for forward shipment by sea and which closed in 1961. This DVD uses archive and contemporary film to tell the story from the last days of quarry operation in the 1950s and 1960s to the 2011 LLR Gala weekend.

Twelve locos in steam on one railway is a pretty impressive effort by the organisers. Plus "Gertrude" and other items.

What more could one ask? Well decent weather would have helped! Nevertheless this DVD gives some idea of the action from the weekend.
