The Diana Dearman Collection


Part 1: (79-mins) a collection of three films shot on Super 8mm

  • "On the Ffestiniog Railway" was shot in 1984 and 1985 and narrated by Diana Dearman
  • "Travellers Guide to the Ffestiniog Railway" shows the line in 1983 and 1984 and narrated by Ian R Hunt
  • "Ffestiniog 150" was taken in 1986 narrated once again by Diana Dearman.


Part 2: (10-mins) Micheal Beatie’s silent film shows the line in 1969.

The Howard Wilson Collection


Part 1: The Films of Major Chales Walker a collection of four films were made by Major Charles Walker, leader of the volunteer FR signals and telegraph working party "JASPER".


The films show a trip down the line in the 1960s, pole work between Tan-y-Bwlch and Dduallt from 1961 to 1966, K1 arrival in 1966, Deviation construction, equipment recovery from BR Corwen in 1967, FR Silver Jubilee 1979, more deviation work in 1973, the Gelliwiog Shuttle in 1975, opening to Tan-y-Grisiau and track through to Blaenau in 1982.


Part 2:- is an 8mm copy of a 1963 commercial film by John Adams and Patrick Whitehouse - "A Century of Steam" .

To reward the "Taliesin" team for the fast-track re-tube of "Taliesin" the Festiniog Railway Company gave the team a "Footplate Experience Day" with "Taliesin" on Saturday when all had a turn to drive and fire the loco.
