This is the final chapter in our run over the Südbahn with OEC 531 from the Südbahnhof in Vienna to Lienz in the Tyrol. We have reached Klagenfurt, the largest town and administrative centre of Carinthia, and are about to depart for Villach. We run alongside the Wörthersee, a holiday destination that the Austrians keep to themselves! Villach is a wonderful small city and a very important rail-crossroads: the lines from the Balkans to Germany, and from Italy to the eastern European countries cross here bringing much diversity. From Villach we head north-west alongside the river Drau. This this the approach to the Tauern mountain railway, but we turn west before the mountains, still following the Drau over the little known railway to Lienz. A very attractive run it is, but it's also strategically important as an alternative freight line to Innsbruck Salzburg. A lovely run in sunny summer weather!

Welcome to Austria. Today we are travelling from Rosenbach, on the Slovenian border near Jesenice, to Villach the second largest city in Carinthia. Here we join EC114 "Worthersee"- Klagenfurt to Dortmund, for

our run over the Tauernbahn to Bad Gastein, our first stop north of the Tauern tunnel. The traffic is international - at one point we overtake an Italian E412 with an international wagon-load train that is taking advantage of the OBB's bi-directional signalling. TTR116 continues north to Salzburg. The Tauernbahn is spectacular and we enjoy beautiful sunny weather.

Welcome back to Austria with Ticket to Ride. We are travelling with EC 114 from Villach in the Austrian county of Carinthia to Salzburg. We are now at Bad Gastein the first InterCity stop north of the Tauern tunnel. The time is 11.20 and we are about to set off down the north ramp towards Schwarzach-St Veit where we joint the Westbahn for the run to Salzburg. Rebuilding of the north ramp is less advanced but we see some of the infrastructure for the new line coming together as we descend.

Welcome to Sweden with Ticket to Ride. Sweden is a member of the Nordic group of countries situated in the Scandinavian peninsula. It’s a large country -the third largest in Europe in fact. We look at the railways in the south and south east corner of the country, including the towns of: Malmö, Lund, Trelleborg, Ystad, Kristianstad, Älmhult, Alvesta, Växjö, Nässjö and Jönköping. We enter Sweden via Germany using the Sassnitz to Trelleborg ferry. The ferry carries the Berlin Night Express and freight wagons, 68,000 of them in the last recorded year. We watch another train ferry; this one from PKP arriving at Ystad, visit the vodka town of Åhus and then head for Malmö where the City Tunnel is under construction. We head north along the south Sweden mainline catching SJ X2000 sets pounding through the forests at 200kph and spectacular freights from Green Cargo, (see the Co-op train) Hector Rail, STENA and others. Jönköping has a stunning lakeside location, new regional “Itino” trains from Bombardier and lots of freight. There are distribution centres for some of Sweden’s biggest brands located on a trading estate nearby - IKEA and Electrolux are here. This documentary is fully narrated and filmed in High Definition.
